FOLLOWING the election of a new substantive committee over the weekend, the Zimbabwe Wushu Federation have said their top priority would be to take the sport to all provinces and set up functional structures. The national federation has been under the supervision of an interim committee led by White Mukweya, who became the substantive president on Saturday, after beating Eusebia Madembo at an election held at the Sports Commission offices in Harare. Mukweya got 10 votes against Madembo’s four votes to land the top post.
The previous executive, led by Gilbert Makowah, was suspended in 2016 for failing to comply with the provisions of the Sports Commission Act.
Since then the interim committee were in charge of wushu affairs in the country with several responsibilities tasked to them, including the amendment of the constitution and setting up structures in different provinces.
The discipline has been mainly dominant in Harare.
The amended constitution was registered early this month, paving way for the elections.
