recognition of the exceptional work Ambassador Xin was doing in Zimbabwe. The Best Dressed male diplomat award was covering all diplomats accredited to Zimbabwe whose first prize was won by Switzerland Ambassador Mr Alexander Wittwer.
In an interview yesterday, Ambassador Xin said the award had strengthened relations between Harare and Beijing. He said he would continue to work to enhance ties between the two countries. “I want to express my sincere appreciation to the Diplomat Magazine for giving me this award,” he said. “It does not belong to me alone but to all Chinese people and Chinese diplomats across the world. The award reflects that
Zimbabweans are satisfied by the work I am doing here together with my staff. I hope to continue with the good work and strengthen relations between our countries this year.”
As a diplomat, Ambassador Xin said, his duty was to serve the people of Zimbabwe and to provide more support to Harare. He said he was also there to serve Chinese working in Zimbabwe and to assist delegations exchanging visits between the two countries.
Ambassador Xin said last year more than 50 delegations visited Zimbabwe while 25 Zimbabwean delegations visited China.
He said the exchange visits were aimed at exploring ways of trade and co-operation.
“During my stay in Zimbabwe, I realised that even ordinary Zimbabweans in the streets and supermarkets now know me because of my ability to speak local language. They always call me Mr Chakanaka-Chakanaka.”
