POPULAR urban grooves outfit, Xtra Large, is expected to renew its romance with United Kingdom-based fans next month.
Xtra Large, which consists of Jimmie “Swagga Jim” Mangezi and Norman “Likkle N” Manwere, is expected to grace the Zimbabwe British Entertainment Awards ceremony slated for March 4.
It will be their third visit to the British Isles, courtesy of Kay Cie from Wamambo Holdings.
They are expected to share the stage with Shashl, Qounfuzed, Levels, Ogga and Tsungi.
Speaking to H-Metro ahead of the tour, Swagga Jim is in for a treat.
“We are going to take them down memory lane with our yesteryear songs and also give them new stuff. We understand many people in the diaspora went during the time when the urban grooves genre was being introduced so they can relate with our most popular hits.
“It’s our third time to visit UK and we promise nothing, but the best.
“It’s a special period for us because this year we are celebrating 20 years of existence as Xtra Large. I can safely boast that we are the longest serving duo in this country,” he said.
Swagga Jim also encouraged people in the diaspora to market Zimbabwe’s music and culture wherever they are.
“Our message is that people outside the country should introduce music from their country to their new friends and families in the host country. They should attend shows with the people they hang out with from that country so that they can witness how we do music in Zimbabwe,” he said
Similar sentiments were echoed by Likkle N.
“Xtra Large is here and will not go anywhere. Hit our social media inbox if you feel you are talented.
“We are celebrating together and our secret behind this togetherness is that we are childhood friends.
“We have become more than friends; we are now more like brothers,” he said.
