YADAH TARGET MORE MIRACLES

Lawrence Moyo

YADAH have become veterans in relegation survival and seem to have already begun the process this season ahead of the clash against former champions, Ngezi Platinum Stars, at the Heart Stadium this afternoon.

In 2023 they even needed to win against Dynamos on the final day of the season to secure survival while last season they were a bit comfortable, finishing six points above the relegation zone.

A rare win over CAPS United at Rufaro on Sunday moved Yadah out of the relegation zone, but they are just one point in the safe zone.

They are aware that failure to maximise on home advantage this afternoon will take them back into the murky waters.

Coach Takaendesa Jongwe has had a decent run over the past two months and now has a much stronger squad after getting quality players, including former CAPS United skipper, William Manondo and Scottland’s Sadney Urikhob during the mid-season transfer window.

“That’s why we remain with the hope to survive. We have quality and we are hopeful that the quality we have will carry us through,” said Jongwe.

Today he will be missing at least four key players due to a combination of injuries and suspension.

Impressive midfielder Francis Mustafa has been ruled out due to injury while goalkeeper, Tymon Mvula and midfielder Innocent Muchaneka are suspended after accumulating three yellow cards.

Jongwe is, however, aware of the challenge that Ngezi Platinum Stars pose in today’s match as the Mhondoro outfit seeks to revive its title challenge.

The visitors will be missing the services of striker, Obriel Chirinda, who has also accumulated three yellow cards.

“It’s a very difficult game. We hope for the best, we will continue working hard with the hope of getting positive results.”

While the midfielder leads the scoring for Yadah, Jongwe does not take it to mean they have a problem with strikers.

“Football is not about strikers, everyone on the pitch contributes. For Mustapha to score it means the strikers are creating space for him.

“So, we are happy and what is important is we get three points. It does not matter where the goal comes from, as long as we are working as a team to get the win.”

Former Ngezi Platinum Stars player, Mandla Mlilo, might get a chance against his ex-teammates but says he will be respectful in the event that he finds the target.

Mlilo has been used in different roles but prefers playing behind the strikers, a role that gives him better scoring chances.

“Out of respect, l will not celebrate if I score against Ngezi on Friday. Ngezi Platinum groomed me to become the player I am today…I was there from the junior team, “ Mlilo.
