Youth Focus with Dr Manners Msongelwa
AS a learner, it’s essential to understand that you cannot be liked by everyone. This principle applies not only in school but also in life beyond the classroom.
In your class, not everyone can like you and that’s okay. You might be a good person, but that doesn’t mean everyone will appreciate your qualities.
The reality of life
The same principle applies in various aspects of life, including:
Workplace: Not everyone will like you at work. You might be a diligent employee, but some colleagues might still harbour negative feelings towards you.
Family: Even within your family, you might not be everyone’s favourite person. Different personalities and interests can lead to conflicts and disagreements.
Social circles: In your social circles, you might encounter people, who don’t appreciate your company or values.
Focus on positive relationships
Rather than worrying about those who don’t like you, focus on nurturing relationships with people who support and appreciate you. These individuals will be there for you in good times and bad, offering encouragement and help when needed.
Characteristics of supportive people
Loyal: They stand by you through thick and thin.
Encouraging: They offer positive feedback and support your endeavours.
Trustworthy: They keep your confidences and don’t gossip about you behind your back.
Remember, it’s impossible to be liked by everyone.
Instead of trying to please everyone, focus on building meaningful relationships with people, who genuinely care about you.
God will always provide you with supportive people in your life, both in school and beyond.
