YOUNG female entrepreneur, Tanatswa Dindimanga, 20, has been nominated for the Africa Young Talent Achievers Award 2023.
Tanatswa, the founder and CEO of Organically You Skincare, was also nominated for the Trend Setting Youth Awards 2022 in Zimbabwe last year under the Best Beauty Brand category.
She believes as a woman, it takes courage and focus to be successful.
“Starting a business without any investors or funding was challenging, but I believed hard work and determination would help me go a long way.
“The path to success is not easy.
“Sometimes you have to stay awake all night in order to produce a quality product.
“Sometimes, the formula might not go as you wish and you have to keep on working and trying out new formulas until you get the best formula.
“Everything I know has been self-taught and self-made. Given the right guidance and tools, young people can make it happen.”
She added: “It is possible for you to achieve your dreams regardless of age or gender.
“For me, being able to create products to solve a problem and improve someone’s life, brings the most satisfaction as an entrepreneur.
“Being nominated for the Africa Young Talent Achievers Award is a great honour for me.”
Tanatswa’s journey started in 2021 when she was 18 and her first clients were her classmates.
Last year she added more products.
“This was the official start of Organically You Skincare and we began making more sales in June 2022.
“This year, the brand has grown very well and sometimes I even look back and get shocked at how far I have come.”
She said, women need to work harder than men to prove themselves.
“As we celebrate women in March, all I can say to other women is to put God first. With God, you will never go wrong.
“The second thing would be to have a very good product that will improve someone’s life. And after starting up, the next thing would be to work hard, be consistent and never give up.
“My inspiration is to give customers the choice to use chemical-free products that are good for their skin and the environment.
“Most women’s products contain a lot of chemicals that are harmful to our health.”
The young entrepreneur said, balancing school work and business is challenging.
“It’s hard because they both require my full attention. Finances have also been another challenge because Organically You Skincare is 100 percent financed by me.
“I made the conscious decision not to take any loans or financial aid from anyone, and I believe that it’s an investment that will pay off soon.”
She said her products include turmeric scrub, turmeric face cream and turmeric lotion, among others.
