Young Gweru entrepreneur scoops top business award

Lanshord Investments (Pvt) Ltd founder, Mr Alain Nzengu was last week named Entrepreneur of the Year in the Midlands province by Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC).

His company specialises in earthmoving equipment and construction services.

Mr Nzengu said it is only big dreams and visions that he possessed from a very young age that eventually came to reality.

“I developed a liking for construction services when I was at a tender age and I held on to that vision until I erected my company three years ago.

“I believe it’s only about having a big dream, vision and focus that makes me sail through in business and make me scoop a top award in a very short space of time,” said Mr Nzengu.

Mr Nzengu reviewed that he endeavoured a lot of projects before he finally settled for earth moving equipment and construction.

“I served as a logistics officer at B&W Instrumentation and Electrical Ltd and later joined Unki Mine as a logistics officer from 2008- 2011.

“I also served as a Project co-ordinator and Liaison officer here in the Zimbabwean office for an environmental organisation.

And my last job before I finally decided to start my own company was to work as a scrap buyer for Midlands metals here in Gweru, ‘’ he said.

He added that his focus now is to expand his business to meet the demand and quality of service required in the construction and mining sector in Zimbabwe.

“My focus now is to expand my business across Zimbabwe.

It is my wish to see better roads and the mining sector booming which can only be achieved when we provide better services,” he said.

Mr Nzengu is a holder of a Post graduate diploma in Commerce and Business Administration which he attained in 2003 in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

He later read for Post graduate diploma in Information Technology at Herentials College in Gweru in 2008.
