admitted that the going has been very tough.
He, however, believes that the worst is over and there is actually light at the end of the tunnel.
“After all, hard times never kill,” he conceded in a recent interview.
He will kick off his weekend shows tonight at Takarangana Night Club, in Hatcliffe, Club Changaz on Saturday and wind off at the Jongwe Corner on Sunday.
“We will soldier on. We have a number of shows lined up this weekend, but the major drawcard is the one we have at Club Changaz in Centenary on Saturday because we are playing there for the first time and we are hoping most of tobacco farmers in the area will grace our show,” said Peter.
Utakataka Express joins the golden list of artistes who have showcased their talent at the venue since it opened its doors early last year.
Suluman Chimbetu, Freddy Manjalima aka Kapfupi, Jah Prayzah, Somandla Ndebele, Progress Chipfumo, and renowned wordsmith Leonard Zhakata are some of the artistes that have played at the venue.
A fortnight ago, First Farai bonded with patrons of the club when he staged shows for three consecutive days from Friday right up to Sunday.
Club Changaz owner Zacharia Five, better known Changamire, said he hoped Peter’s show this week would relive memories of his late father.
“This is the time to assist Peter and the band, to ensure that the band we will not collapse. As a result, we agreed to give the band a flat fee to cushion them against unforeseeable circumstances and we are hoping this will go a long way in keeping the morale within the band high,” he said.
Peter will be supported by Simon Mutambi and Cobra Express while Club Changaz resident artiste Friday Nafuko with his Muchechetere Express will also serenade fans.
