He has made hit songs and has produced for the most talked about Zimbabwe hip-hop artistes, such is the grit and hard work of a 19-yeah-old Tapiwa “YoungNash” Nyangwaya. At 19, YoungNash has already made a name for himself in the cut throat music scene as it has emerged that he is a double 2013 Hip-hop Awards nominee.
Nominated for the Most Valuable Player award and Best Hip-hop Producer of the year award, YoungNash compete against some of the longest-serving music producers and artistes such as Take5, Simba Tags and Junior Brown.
YoungNash vowed to stay upbeat whether he wins or lose both awards and he said he is going to trend set for all aspiring youthful musicians. “When I was growing up I never dreamt to be a celebrity, but my home-boys instilled the courage I needed. 2013 has been my year of resounding music success and I hope it is a positive message going to my colleagues who are working flat out to breakthrough, that anything can happen. Right now I am not focusing on winning awards or rather losing any, I am only thinking about my future with great enthusiasm to make good music and take Zim hip-hop to greater heights,” said YoungNash.
To date the Waterfalls-bred rapper has had good run on the hip-hop music scene, releasing more than 40 singles, a 19-track solo album and produced several hit singles for red hot group MMT.
MMT realised the taste of success following the release of their blockbuster hit singles “Zvidhori” and “Party Yatanga”, all tracks produced by the youthful and creative YoungNash.
The versatile and self-styled new hip-hop find has taken music scene by storm introducing his heavy drum and percussion beats which became club favourites of late. His uniqueness earned him collaborations with some of the big names in the game like Stunner, Simba Tags, MMT and Xndr.
He is currently riding high with another smashing hit song he produced called “Zunguza”, which has also been nominated for the best song of the year.
YoungNash burst on the music limelight early this year, but his career dates back to 2010 where he started as a low-key rapper singing for high school students.
With the grooming and encouragement from renowned producer Alexander “Xndr” Mutumha, he grew not only in stature, but production wise and also managed to gain hearts of many hip-hop fanatics with his music.
