SEVERAL teenage footballers from around the world, including two from Zimbabwe, will have a golden opportunity to attend the Copa Coca-Cola camp in Paris, France, from June 29 to July 4.
The event will feature girls and boys and they will also watch some of the Euro 2016 games.
“The teens will also have an opportunity to watch a real live UEFA Euro 2016 game in Paris as well as build new relationships with friends as they take part in the biggest grassroots football programme owned by a brand,” the organisers said in a statement.
“This programme was created with the goal to bring together teens from around the world who share a passion of football, to discover new cultures and to celebrate the Euro 2016 matches live.
“This will not be the first event as just a few days after Euro 2016 started, teens from over 50 countries went to attend the third Global Copa Coca-Cola Camp.
“Every aspect of the camp was carefully organised in such a way that would facilitate cross-cultural connections for a week.
“The event is organised so the kids will have an opportunity to learn and perfect their football skills with the help of football legend Xavi Hernández.”
The players will also attend some coaching sessions held by coaches from the Paris Saint-Germain Academy.
“We will invite world-class scouts from PSG to attend the camp so the teens are highly motivated to perform at their best level,” the statement said.
Two Zimbabweans will be part of the crew.
The local edition of the Copa Coca-Cola tournament has already been hailed as one of the best organised tourneys in the world.
It has provided a launching pad for many footballers, including Knowledge Musona and Khama Billiat, whose outstanding performances powered the Warriors to their first appearance at the Nations Cup finals in 10 years.
The legendary Peter Ndlovu, the first skipper to lead the Warriors to a place at the Nations Cup finals, also introduced himself on the big stage as a teenager leading Mzilikazi in this tournament.
