Youngsters shine at Old Trafford

Wayne Rooney and Nani in a dream trip to the Theatre of Dreams.
No wonder the boys are still in dreamland.
Masimba Chigumira, who got a chance to greet and get a ball signed for him by United winger Nani, believes he made a good name for himself and World Wide Scholarship.
“I got my ball signed by one of the most famous players Nani, played on their field and sat inside the locker beside Nani’s football jersey.
“I played on the left wing during our tour and I liked it because that is my position in the school’s club (St John’s prep) and I was the man-of-the-match for three matches,” said Chigumira.
He scored three goals in their first match and was man-of-the-match in the second and also scored two goals in the fifth match.
He scored 15 goals during the tour.
Tadiwa Kurenjekwa, a striker, scored eight goals on tour.
“I was very happy to be part of the tour and I feel that this is just the beginning of a journey as I want to become Zimbabwe’s top future star.
“I scored a total of eight goal during our trip and I really enjoyed the facilities and meeting some Manchester players although I did not get the chance to talk to them because they were a bit far from where I stood.
“The training was good and it was fun, I never got fed up as we would train in the morning, afternoon and in the evening.
“I also saw Sir Alex Ferguson and he asked me question like ‘which country do I come from’ and said it was pleasure meeting him and I will always feel like a hero after shaking his hand,” said Kurenjekwa.
Ferguson is the most successful manager in British football history.
Tinashe Chatereka said God blessed him during the tour.
“I never thought that my trip was going to happen because of insufficient funds but I thank God that I made it and got the chance to train at Old Trafford.
“My father is a pastor and I stay in Glen View.
“WWS and the Government officials who contributed to my tour did a very good thing for me by opening one door and I will make sure that I become one of the best international footballers,” said Chatereka.
President of World Wide Scholarships Group, Munyaradzi Maraire, said it was a dream opportunity for youngsters to prepare for their careers in football.
“The chance to partner with strong brands is a step in the right direction as it gave the young footballers a platform to perfect their skills, preparing them to be stars in the sport.
“The tour was the most challenging that we put together and we are glad that the team had a good time and have seen the world.
“I would like to say that we are proud of the boys, they performed well in their matches and got a chance to see Manchester.
“Therefore we would like to encourage them to spread the news and help in growing football in Zimbabwe,” said Maraire.
