Youth entrepreneur of the Week

Our entrepreneur of the week is Mr Langton Vito (pictured) aged 28, who is the co-founder and managing director of a construction company, Vitmud Construction, located in Harare.

His journey of being an entrepreneur began just after graduation.

Mr Vito is a qualified quantity surveyor.

In an interview, Mr Vito revealed that he was motivated by the desire to create employment locally for other youths in the construction industry as there is a strong appetite for seeking jobs overseas.

“What drove me the most is seeing that in Zimbabwe there are few young entrepreneurs who are venturing into construction. You would find out that most quantity surveyors, architects, engineers, once they graduate, they will look for jobs overseas and relocate. So, who is going to build our nation?”.

“By doing so, we are creating more skilled workers in our nation as there is a lack of skilled workers, which is the big problem that the construction industry is facing.

“The young generation is being pushed towards college and not vocational trades,” he said.

He further said planning is necessary, but making those plans a reality is at the heart of entrepreneurship.

“I encourage more youths who are in construction to come and join us as we have many gatherings as youths outlining measures we should take to overcome all obstacles.”
