AFFIRMATIVE Action Group (AAG) national member and Zanu-PF Bulawayo city centre secretary for security Mr Emmanuel Sunduza has implored young people countrywide to be productive and take up opportunities being rolled out by Government.

This comes against the background of Government’s call for young people to take part in the rebuilding of the economy as espoused in the National Development Strategy 1, the blueprint that is set to turnaround the country’s economy by 2025.

Mr Sunduza said of all the productive sectors, the agricultural sector presents huge opportunities for youths to start businesses that are sure to create sustainable livelihoods.

He said the Pfumvudza/Intwasa concept should be highly prioritised as evidenced by the past harvest that has revived the country’s food security.

“Young people should start to be productive as the Second Republic has opened gaps that are meant at reviving the economy and achieving an upper-middle economy by 2023.

“As we are in the farming season, youths should utilise land available to them and take part in the Pfumvudza project as this comes after His Excellency President Mnangagwa has availed 500 hectares of land to be allocated to youths as per province,” he said.

Mr Sunduza said the goal should be creating new players across sectors.

“As youths, opportunities are cut across sectors of agriculture, mining and tourism among others.

It’s time we have new players in different industries where we have young coal miners, young professional hunters and young dairy farmers as this also plays a part in ensuring that the vision set by the first citizen which includes creating employment is achieved,” said Mr Sunduza.

Mr Sunduza said Government has faith in the leadership of young people as seen with the post held by Cde Managaliso Ndlovu, the Minister of Environment, Climate Change, Tourism and Hospitality Industry.

“We as youths, when we see Minister Ndlovu, see a symbol of hope for the future as he is one of the youngest ministers who’s doing well in his ministry.

We’ve seen him lead a delegation to Glasgow with President Mnangagwa and his post shows that our leaders have faith in us in running the day-to-day needs of the country,” said Mr Sunduza. – @mthabisi_mthire
