A ZAMBIAN national who entered into the country illegally has been jailed for three months awaiting deportation.

Kampamba Mkuka (22) appeared before Mutare senior magistrate, Mrs Sekai Chiundura for contravening the Immigration Act.

The court heard that on July 9 near Forbes Border Post, Kampamba entered into Zimbabwe without a valid permit while travelling from South Africa to Malawi via Zimbabwe.

Police officers patrolling the border area subsequently arrested him for entering into the country without proper travelling documents.

Mr Donald Mudadirwa prosecuted.

Asked why he committed the crime, he said: “I lost all my documents when I was traveling from South Africa. I was going to Malawi.”
