MIGHTY Warriors coach, Rosemary Mugadza, called up 25 players for camping ahead of Sunday’s Olympic Games qualifier first leg away to Ivory Coast.
ZIFA spokesperson, Xolisani Gwesela, confirmed the development on the association’s official website, and further explained the team’s camping details.
“We understand the need for a longer camp to ensure adequate preparation.
“We appeal to corporate sponsors and the Government to partner the girl child,” Gwesela said.
Mugadza retained the bulk of the team that has been doing duty for the Mighty Warriors in recent assignments but there are around seven faces that have not been part of the team of late.
In the goalkeeping department, Manyara Mandara of Mwenezana will have a chance to challenge veteran, Chido Dzingirayi and Process Chatsamwa, while Deliwe Makaha has been dropped.
Black Rhinos defenders, Lynette Mutokuto and Viola Ndlovu are the only introductions in defence, while
Favourite Nhema who plays for Mwenezana will fancy her chances for a place in midfield.
Against opponents who are fresh from a World Cup appearance, the Mighty Warriors will be looking to a sharp strike-force to stand a chance to overcome Ivory Coast.
Upfront, Mugadza will have the chance to assess Rutendo Makore, Catherine Chimutanda and Maud Mafuruse if they can improve the goal scoring capabilities of the team.
In the previous round, the Mighty Warriors edged Zambia on away goals rule after the teams had finished a two legged qualifier on a 2 all aggregate.
