Zanu-PF an enigma to its detractors

Muchadura Dube
LAST week’s events triggered varied emotions to the diverse political actors operating in the democratic space of the liberated nation, Zimbabwe, a land bequeathed to the current generation by the gallant forebears who lost limb and life as they fought the viciously armed and diabolic British settlers.

Their bravery was not in vain as the freedom finally came, however at a heavy price of the precious lives of the sons and daughters of the soil.

With such a proud history which is envied even by the nation’s erstwhile detractors, how then have we all of a sudden become the purveyors of doom, always dwelling on anticipating doom?

In medical parlance, a human being is what he /she consumes, this also applies to a person’s perception of reality.

The recent attack on Zanu-PF by the so-called private media reveals more than the eye can see.

Where is the issue of a hundred Zanu-PF members of parliament being alleged to belong to the Mujuru cabal emanating from? There is always a reason why events unfold in the manner they did this week. For those who do not appreciate this animal termed the imperialist.

Then it is time reality dawns on you. The regime change pundits have permanent interest and never permanent friends; they will not tire till they achieve their intended goal which is to topple the constitutionally elected Zanu-PF Government.

The daily tabloids insinuated that disgraced former Vice President Joice Mujuru “owns” one hundred legislators.
With Mujuru’s famed ignorance and arrogance, it will be a miracle if any level headed person would ever want to associate with such political non entities.

Mujuru was riding on the wave of President Mugabe and the revolutionary party, Zanu-PF’s popularity. If ever anyone thought they had people, let them contest the Mount Darwin West by election which is slated for the end of March.

That is when their demon of their perceived popularity or is it imagined self worth would be completely exorcised. Zanu PF is much bigger than the inflated egos of individuals.

Zanu-PF is popular by any yardstick within the political sphere of this country, regionally, continentally and even globally.

You can only assault it at your own peril, for you will be left stranded on your way to political oblivion.

This then sums up the doomed initiative by these daily tabloids to attempt to set the agenda for the ruling party in attempt to plant confusion and animosity. In case someone elsewhere in the media industry had not realised the futility of their imaginations.

Zanu-PF has seen it all, the author is not suggesting that it is impervious to advise rather these kindergarten pranks being initiated by the private media which will definitely find no takers within the party.

It must be appreciated that Zanu PF has robust mechanism to curtail dissident or to remedy any anomalies arising from the transgressions of its membership.

For the record it is only the once boisterous and reckless Rugare Gumbo, an unrepentant well known traitor and the equally chaos ridden Jabulani Sibanda who were expelled from the revolutionary party.

Any cadre worth his salt will recall how the duo boasted at any gathering of their perceived non-existent authority.

Where the duo derived their strength, no one knows. Has anyone ever given deep thought to the Shona adage “Yanyangira yaona”.

The hysterical Gumbo amazes the most as he rants and boasts about his so called liberation credentials, he is best advised to seal his loud mouth and deflate his ego.

Had it not been for President Mugabe’s benevolence, Gumbo could have been a pauper languishing in prison given his numerous treacherous attempts to remove constitutionally elected governments, his latest being his attempt to unconstitutionally remove legitimately elected leadership.

Call it foolishness or downright stupidity, that’s what this self proclaimed king-maker Rugare Gumbo dreamt.

Anyway, Gumbo has become a burden unto himself, even to his own shadow. He has now seen the ignominy of being at variance with the people’s wishes; you can never win the battle. Humiliation awaited him as is now the reality.

The events of this week should then exhort Zanu-PF to continue reinvigorating its systems and structures, continue self introspection in a bid to consolidate its political hegemony.

The regime change machinery which continues to suffer losses as it no longer has no leadership given the mediocrity of its characters that fronted their project.

Morgan Tsvangirai, the philander of repute whom they once and are still using has become an eyesore to their pursuits, add that the ailing Biti whose crumbling health invites more attention than their doomed so called renewal project.

Even when all indications point to a Zanu-PF dominance for a long time to come given the pro-people initiatives which has dominated it space since the days of the liberation struggle, the party should always be alive to the perpetual devilish machinations of the regime change pundits.

The people’s party will always remain an enigma even to its fiercest critics as they fail to understand its character for it remains the all conquering machine as it pummels its political foes to submission.
