Zanu-PF Midlands Province has embraced the new Minister of State Cde Larry Mavima, who was sworn in on Monday.
Minister Mavima replaces Cde Owen Ncube, who was the incumbent until the latest Cabinet changes.
In an interview, Zanu-PF Midlands Provincial chairperson Engineer Daniel McKenzie Ncube said the province was ready to work with Minister Mavima.
Eng Ncube said Minister Mavima had the capacity to steward the province and drive President Mnangagwa’s vision of making the country a middle-income economy by 2030. He said the party would offer him unwavering support in his endeavours.
“As a province there are a lot of things that we are looking forward to. First this province is endowed with vast mineral rich that should be fully-exploited. We need to make use of these resources to develop the province and the country at large.
“Now that there is devolution, there is need for the revival of the industries and for mines to operate on full capacity so that we resonate with President Mnangagwa’s vision of transforming the country’s economy.
“Minister Mavima is very capable of doing that and I have no doubt that he will deliver,” he said.
Eng Ncube said all Government departments and political parties should complement each other in developing the province.
“It is time for us to pull in one direction regardless of our political affiliation.
“We need to develop our province and there is no place for saboteurs,” he said.
President Mnangagwa recently said Minister Mavima had the capacity to hold the office and would contribute towards development in the province.
Minister Mavima is a member of the Midlands Development Association which helped in the construction of Zanu-PF Convention Centre in Gweru.
