The Zanu PF Annual People’s Conference has reaffirmed it’s earlier resolution to extend President Mnangagwa’ tenure beyond 2028 and ensure that the requisite constitutional amendments are effected before the next conference.

Announcing several resolutions at the close of the conference this afternoon, Zanu PF Secretary for Legal Affairs, Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi said the conference had noted that there was little movement in the implementation of the resolution since it’s adoption at the last conference held in Bulawayo last year.

“The party and Government are directed to initiate the requisite constitutional amendments to give legal effect to this resolution… All party organs, including the Politburo and the Central Committee, are directed to implement this resolution fully,” said Cde Ziyambi.

Some of the other resolutions include the need to ensure harmonisation of affiliates with the party to ensure cohesion.

“It was also resolved that there be allocation of motor vehicles to all structures to ensure mobility and effectiveness,” said Cde Ziyambi.

The party’s legal and Commissariat department was also directed to come up with guidelines that ensure seamless internal elections.

It was also resolved that upon death, non-combatant cadres be accorded war veteran status, while all veterans of the struggle should get State-assisted funeral.
