Zanu-PF Councillor elected unopposed as Hwange Local Board Chair

ZANU-PF councillor at Hwange Local Board, Peterson Ncube, was yesterday elected unopposed as the new chairperson following a vote of no confidence in the incumbent, Mr. Morrison Mafa, of the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party.

Cde Ncube’s sensational ascendancy to the position comes despite the fact that ZANU-PF is the opposition party in the local authority, with just three councillors compared to CCC’s 17 policymakers.

Council sources said Mr. Mafa was running council business as a “one-man gang,” taking key decisions individually without consulting his chamber colleagues or even those from his own party.
