The high-powered delegation comprised Zanu-PF National Chairman Cde Simon Khaya Moyo, Secretary for Administration Cde Didymus Mutasa and National Commissar Cde Webster Shamu.
They arrived in Bulawayo on Wednesday morning and held a series of closed door meetings from 9am to 8 pm at the Zanu-PF provincial headquarters at Davies Hall.
On Wednesday the leaders met Politburo members from the province, Central Committee members, National Consultative Assembly members, and the provincial executive before concluding the marathon meetings by having an audience with war veterans, ex-detainees and war collaborators.
On Thursday morning the leadership met the Provincial Co-ordinating Committee (PCC).
Emerging from the meeting yesterday, Cde Khaya Moyo said their mission was a resounding success.
“We are delighted that the people spoke openly and frankly as to how we can progress and to ready ourselves to win the forthcoming harmonised elections.
“We were impressed by the frankness of all those groups that we met and it was clear to us that as we report to the Politburo we will be confident that we will win the elections,” said Cde Khaya Moyo.
He said they came to Bulawayo as a listening delegation and further deliberations would be made after briefing the Politburo in Harare.
“We are very proud of how things have gone in terms of our mission and we are confident that the outcome will strengthen the party and gear it for a resounding victory in the elections,” said Cde Moyo.
He said he had no doubt that his party would win the elections.
“Even the United Kingdom media has predicted victory for Zanu-PF, these are informed people who do research and I can assure that we are winning these elections,” said Cde Khaya Moyo.
He said the Presidium would mobilise adequate resources and support for the party to ensure victory in the elections.
“Now the people can go to their respective areas and work, we will give you all the assistance needed as the Presidium. As we go back today, we go back a happy delegation,” said Cde Khaya Moyo.
The meetings come in the wake of violence that erupted during a PCC meeting in the province early this month, which forced it to end abruptly.
Some party members were arrested in connection with the violence.
