ZANU PF has resolved that disciplinary proceedings that were instituted against Harare’s Zone 2 District Coordinating Committee (DCC) chairperson Cde Godwin Gomwe be withdrawn.
This comes after Harare provincial interim chairperson Cde Oliver Chidawu issued a prohibition order against Cde Gomwe on the 28 May for indiscipline pending a determination by the ruling party’s National Disciplinary Committee (NDC).
In an interview, Zanu PF national political commissar Cde Victor Matemadanda confirmed the development, saying the decision to suspend Cde Gomwe from his position was reversed at an extraordinary meeting held at the party’s provincial offices on 18th June.
Cde Matemadanda said the prohibition order was reversed by the party.
“Cde Gomwe will be carrying his duties as the Zone 2 DCC chairman as expected. The prohibition order was reversed forthwith,” said Cde Matemadanda.
Cde Chidawu signed the notice of withdrawal of disciplinary proceedings instituted against Cde Gomwe.
“At an extraordinary meeting of the Provincial Coordinating Committee held at the party offices in Harare metropolitan provincial offices on Thursday, the 18th of June 2020. The meeting which was attended by National Secretary for Commissariat Cde Victor Matemadanda accompanied by the party’s senior party member Cde Webster Shamu.
“It was unanimously resolved that the disciplinary proceedings that were instituted against you should be withdrawn forthwith.
“The decision means that the prohibition rder that was issued against you is hereby withdrawn and that you should resume performance of your functions and responsibilities as the DCC 2 chairman with immediate effect,” reads the reversal letter authored by Cde Chidawu.
Cde Chidawu further stated that Cde Matemadanda emphasised on the need for members, particularly those in leadership positions to observe the provisions of the party’s constitution and exercise the highest level of discipline at all times.
Cde Matemadanda urged party members to conduct themselves honestly and honourably and avoid engaging in negative activities that bring the revolutionary party’s name into disrepute and ridicule.
