Zim hosts peace, security indaba

Zimbabwe today hosts the virtual meeting of the Ministerial Committee of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation , Foreign Affairs and International Trade Permanent Secretary Ambassador James Manzou said last night.

Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Dr Sibusiso Moyo, chairs the committee and will chair today’s 22nd meeting on a virtual platform.

Top of the agenda will be the political and security situation in the region, with particular attention to Covid-19 and terrorism plus the developments in Lesotho, Malawi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique and the decades-old border dispute between DRC and Zambia.

Speaking soon after the preparatory meeting in Harare yesterday, Ambassador Manzou said the meeting will focus on  peace and security threats in Sadc.

Defence and War Veterans Affairs Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Kazembe Kazembe, Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Mangaliso Ndlovu and State Security Minister Owen Ncube are also expected to attend the ministerial virtual meeting.
