the party was ready for a landslide victory.
The party’s provincial chairman, Cde Dickson Mafios, said he did not understand why the polls were being delayed.
Zanu-PF wants elections held this year while the MDC formations insist they should be postponed to a later date.
Speaking on the sidelines of a traditional leaders’ assembly in Bindura recently, Cde Mafios said contrary to media reports that the party was rocked by factionalism; it still remained the strongest political institution in Zimbabwe.
He said the party would resoundingly win the elections and would never surrender the country’s hard-won independence to sellouts.
“We are ready (for elections) and everything is under control. We are revitalising our structures. The term of the Inclusive Government has expired and what it means is we have to choose one leader who is prepared to defend the gains of the liberation struggle.
“Other parties are afraid of elections because they know that people now have the reality on the ground after their involvement in the administration of the country’s affairs,” he said.
Turning to the purported factionalism in Zanu-PF, Cde Mafios said: “Factionalism is a non-existent issue in the party.
“We might differ here and there but at the end of the day common ground would be struck for us to move forward. This is a clear sign that we are a democratic institution as we allow divergent views.”
He said elections were the only solution to conflicts rocking the inclusive Government.
“It is clear that we will never work towards one goal with these people because we have different interests. We are working with people who still have political attachments to the former colonialists.
“It is for this reason that we are calling for early elections so that one party can assume total control of the country,” he said.
Cde Mafios said the party had lined up a number of projects in the province that would benefit the nation as a way of intensifying economic empowerment.
“Zanu-PF has offered some indigenous empowerment programmes for development but the other parties have brought sanctions, which have destroyed almost every sector in the country,” he said.
He reiterated that the province would not tolerate the imposition of candidates as it has proved to be costly to the party in previous polls.
