Zanu-PF Mat South preps on course

ZANU-PF Matabeleland South province’s preparations for the 15th Annual National People’s Conference are reportedly on course with the party calling on districts to finalise their donations and help the province meet their designated contributions.

The conference is set to be held from 7 to 13 December at the resort town of Victoria Falls.

Speaking during the party’s provincial co-ordinating committee held in Gwanda town yesterday, the acting provincial chairperson Cde Rapelang Choene said they did not want to be embarrassed by not meeting their target.

“As you know our budget for the conference is

$50 000, this meaning that each administrative district should contribute $7 150 and further each district must contribute a tonne of maize meal and a cow, of which the national deadline for all these contributions to have reached Harare is 13 November, which is not far off.

“I am happy that we have previously shown a spirit of unity and haven’t had much problems in terms of fundraising. We must now go back to our districts and ensure that we fulfill our dues, we really don’t want to be embarrassed when we get to Victoria Falls,” said Cde Choene.

He said the onus was not with the provincial executive but the entire province to contribute towards the successful hosting of the People’s conference.

Meanwhile, the provincial secretary for administration Cde William Dewa reported that they were now left with just four districts to verify under the restructuring programme noting that they hope they would have completed the districts by Thursday.

“We are now left with just four districts in Mangwe district of which the team leader there has advised this would be done by Thursday. Of the information that we have gathered while we had expected 4 555 districts we have 3 411 which we verified thus far,” said Cde Dewa.

Also present at the meeting was Politiburo member and Rural Development, Preservation and Promotion of Culture and Heritage Minister Cde Abednico Ncube.
