Cde Machaya yesterday said the party was confident of posting a landslide victory as members were already working together in the restructuring currently underway in the province. He said the party was now embarking on a massive membership recruitment drive.
“We are working together to strengthen the party in all areas be it in leadership or at grassroots levels. We finished restructuring at the village cell level last month and will continue rescucitating the structures as some of them were not functioning,” he said.
Cde Machaya said Zanu-PF would retain the seats lost to the MDC-T in the March 29, 2008 harmonised elections.
“Some people realised they made a mistake in 2008 and are ready to come back to Zanu-PF. Personally I am happy with the gains we have made in the urban areas as many people have realised that Zanu-PF is their home,” he said.
He underscored the need for members to bury their differences and focus on unity. Cde Machaya also challenged party members to be fully committed to Zanu-PF and to respect each other.
“We might have divergent views here and there but at the end of the day the view of the majority carries the day because Zanu-PF is not an organisation of individuals but belongs to the people,” he said.
