victory in the forthcoming general elections.
Party national chairman Cde Simon Khaya Moyo yesterday said the revolutionary party whose character had always been the ability to meet and overcome challenges, should listen and stay with the people.
He was addressing delegates to the party’s 12th Annual National People’s Conference.
“As a revolutionary party, Zanu-PF has no virus in its political culture,” said Cde Khaya Moyo.
“We must, therefore, win resoundingly the coming elections. There is no other option . . . from the people we come and to the people, we must return.”
Cde Khaya Moyo challenged Zanu-PF appointees in Government to perform or risk being recalled.
“Government is a product of the party. The party is always supreme,” he said.
“Those who are political appointees in Government or elsewhere must perform and remain accountable to the party and hence to the people at all times. The party has to advise the President to recall non performers. The clarion call is, people first and performance now.”
Cde Khaya Moyo urged Zimbabweans to expose leaders involved in corrupt activities and other vices.
“Zanu-PF is not a shopping mall and those who use money to buy votes or support must not hold leadership positions,” he said.
Cde Khaya Moyo said the next elections give Zanu-PF an opportunity to put a finality to the inclusive Government.
“The inclusive Government has overstayed the hospitality of our people and must in due course be accorded an appropriate burial,” he said.
The West, Cde Khaya Moyo said, was pushing for a regime change in Zimbabwe because they want to control its resources.
“As their economies collapse and sink into oblivion, they look for resources in the developing world to plunder, with a common vow – till debt do us part,” he said.
Welcoming delegates, Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Governor and Resident Minister Cde Cain Mathema dismissed the notion that Matabeleland was marginalised.
