Addressing delegates while moving a motion to take note of the address by the party’s First Secretary and President, Cde Mugabe at the Zanu-PF 12th Annual National People’s Conference, Cde Mujuru said factionalism, divisions and disunity worked against the existence of peace.
“The need and benefits of unity cannot be over-emphasised, it should be in our blood,” she said.
“Divisions and disunity work against peace, tranquility and development.
“Yes, we may hold divergent views on some issues, but at the end of the day we must all subordinate to the party spirit, ideology, principles, guidelines and regulations.”
Cde Mujuru said it was normal in society to have different views, but warned that it should not deteriorate to the level of factionalism, which is divisive.
She said the conference would be a lesson to the party that all Zimbabweans were sons and daughters of the soil. Cde Mujuru commended President Mugabe for leading the land reform programme and the Presidential Well-Wishers’ Special Inputs Scheme, which has seen thousands of Zimbabweans benefiting.
Meanwhile, Zanu-PF Vice President and Second Secretary Dr John Landa Nkomo called on Zimbabweans to uphold the spirit of unity in order to preserve peace and tranquility in the country.
He was giving a vote of thanks after President Mugabe officially opened the conference.
Cde Nkomo said Zimbabweans should speak with one voice in denouncing all forms of divisions and violence among themselves.
“We in Zanu-PF we say peace begins with me, peace begins with you, peace begins with all of us. Our strength lies within our unity,” said VP Nkomo.
VP Nkomo said people should emulate the principles and superb leadership skills of President Mugabe.
“President Mugabe is one person who has walked the talk. He is a consistent person who does not believe in amendments to the original principles.
