Zanu-PF re-structuring meetings postponed

THE Zanu-PF Bulawayo and Matabeleland South provinces restructuring programme meetings set for yesterday were postponed due to bad weather.
Freak rains experienced in most parts of the country on Friday and yesterday made it difficult for teams to move around the wards carrying out the exercise.

In Bulawayo, the party’s provincial commissar, Cde Charlton Sivako, said the programme will proceed this Saturday.
He said the restructuring was setting the tone for the party, ahead of 2018 elections.

“We were supposed to have two meetings in Nkulumane 12 at 12pm and 2pm. The meetings were for four wards and we hoped that by the end of the day the exercise will be done. However, the weather was not conducive and we had to postpone,” said Cde Sivako.

Cde Sivako added that there were many funerals in the area which also made it difficult for members to attend the exercise.
In Matabeleland South province, the exercise will now kick off on Friday in Bulilima district and proceed to Mangwe district on Saturday before the teams move to Matobo district on Sunday.

The exercise will continue in Umzingwane on 19 September and Insiza the next day, move to Gwanda before it rounds off in Beitbridge on the last Saturday of this month.

Matabeleland South political commissar Cde Soul Mahalima Ncube expressed confidence that the exercise will go on very well in spite of the postponement.

Meanwhile, confusion rocked the Matabeleland North provincial co-ordination committee meeting held in Lupane yesterday following a dispute over the numbers of party members in cell stuctures.

Members spearheading the verification process were advised to verify their figures and present them at the provincial office by tomorrow.

“Verification should be passed to the responsible office by Monday to avoid further complications,” said Matabeleland North Zanu-PF provincial chairman Cde Richard Moyo.

It also emerged at the same meeting that there was a group of war veterans in some Matabeleland North districts who were in a habit of blocking those tasked with carrying out the process from doing their duties.
