ZANU PF SA district in solidarity march

ZANU PF South Africa (SA) District will today hold an anti-sanctions march in Pretoria, as Zimbabweans living outside the country join the region in calling for the unconditional removal of the embargo.

Other ZANU PF districts around the world are expected to similarly engage in various events in solidarity with the joint regional lobby.

In an interview with The Sunday Mail, ZANU PF SA District secretary for information and publicity, Cde Kennedy Mandaza, said the Diaspora has been a victim since sanctions make it difficult to process financial transactions to Zimbabwe.

“Some companies have been blocked from transacting with Zimbabwean financial institutions through money transfer platforms. ZANU PF SA joins the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde. E. D. Mnangagwa, the ZANU PF collective leadership, the leadership and people of the SADC region and the gallant people of Zimbabwe in unambiguously calling for the immediate and unconditional removal of the illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe. The Diaspora community has not been spared. Diaspora remittances have been intercepted and other money transfer companies have been victimised on specific transactions.”

Cde Mandaza said the restrictions on financial transactions destined for Zimbabwe was scaring away potential investors.

“Many people came here to South Africa because they lost jobs after many companies were closed due to the sanctions. These sanctions are a clear violation of the human rights of the people in Zimbabwe and the region. In fact, the sanctions are a subtle declaration of war on the countries affected.

“The illegal economic sanctions, which were unilaterally imposed following the country’s stance to redistribute land on a more equitable basis and correct the colonial imbalances in the ownership of the resource, have caused untold suffering on the ordinary citizens in and outside the country. The intention, packaged as targeted sanctions, is to suffocate the Zimbabwean economy so that Zimbabweans and the region can pander to the whims and caprices of the West. The West wants us to remain subservient to their evil machinations,” he said.

Hundreds of Zimbabweans living in SA are expected to take part in today’s solidarity march.
