Party provincial chairman Cde Ray Kaukonde said those found guilty of campaigning without authority face suspension from the party.
“Those interested in representing the party should wait until the party’s national leadership calls for nominations and they can campaign ahead of primary elections,” he said.
Cde Kaukonde said members should concentrate on restructuring party structures from the cell to district levels.
“Some of our structures expire after a year and we are calling all leaders to work on their restructuring duties until the national leadership calls for primary elections,” he said.
The party, Cde Kaukonde said, should work on strengthening the structures at grassroot levels.
“We will not hesitate to deal with all the people wasting their time campaigning before the primaries are called for and they face possible suspension if they are caught,” he said.
The provincial chairman said party leaders should work with members so that they are registered as voters. “The people should have national identity cards and registered as voters. The leaders should also start auditing their structures ahead of the elections.”
Cde Kaukonde also urged supporters to choose candidates with a track record in the party.
“Some of the people campaigning are fly-by-night supporters but we need people who understand our party ideology and principles,” he said.
Meanwhile, Cde Kaukonde urged Zanu-PF supporters in the province to fully use the Presidential Well-Wishers Agriculture Input Scheme.
“Our economy is agro-based and people should work hard to ensure that we have enough food for our families and the nation,” he said.
