ZANU-PF Secretary-General, Advocate Jacob Mudenda, has rallied Zimbabweans to remain focused on the transformative Vision 2030 and to work together in unity and humility to ensure the achievement of national development targets.
Addressing Midlands Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) members during a provincial outreach programme in Gweru, Advocate Mudenda urged party leaders to embrace humility and avoid becoming preoccupied with positions.
“As we advance towards the full realisation of Vision 2030, which we have all agreed in terms of what it means, the responsibility of our progress becomes even more decisive. I call upon party members especially those in positions of leadership to remain humble. They must show humility putting the party first in line with Vision 2030,” he said.
Advocate Mudenda reminded members that party positions are temporary and encouraged dedication to duty in service of the party and the people.
“These leadership positions are there to make sure that the party progresses, that the party grows and they are temporary. We should not remain fixed on them. As a party we are guided by the constitution that we must be in charge of our production and natural resources in our areas,” he said.
The road ahead remains long, Advocate Mudenda said, urging party members to remain steadfast and committed to advancing the interests of the ruling party first.
“We have the Shangwe people in Gokwe, for example, you must not leave them behind in terms of socio-economic development, and of course development must be visible. When you monitor these programmes, you must ask yourselves the impact they have on the ordinary people.”
Consequently, Advocate Mudenda said it was the responsibility of the PCC to monitor projects by companies in the province, including new factories, new roads and all development programmes that leave no one and no place behind.
Advocate Mudenda also encouraged party members to venture into business initiatives as a means of empowering themselves and contributing to the country’s development.
Speaking at the same occasion, Minister of State for Midlands Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Owen Ncube, said the Midlands Province fully supports the draft Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment No. 3 Bill of 2026, which proposes a Parliamentary process for the election of the President.
The Bill, among other legal reforms, also seeks to replace the current five-year term with a seven-year term for the President, strengthen constitutional governance, clarify institutional roles, promote political stability, and enhance the efficiency of the State architecture.
“As a Midlands Province we are fully behind the draft Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment (No. 3) Bill, which speaks of the needs and wants of us patriotic Zimbabweans. We are very confident that it will sail through parliament and allow the Second Republic to continue with the fulfilment of people centric programmes and projects,” he said.
Cde Ncube highlighted President Mnangagwa’s people-centred policies, such as the release of devolution funds to local authorities — a development that has seen rural communities benefit through the construction of schools, health centres and improvements in water access through borehole drilling
