THE ZANU PF Manicaland Women’s League under the leadership of Cde Dorothy Mabika, has launched a vigorous mobilisation drive, capitalising on the unity and cohesion within its ranks in the province.
Over the weekend, the league hosted highly successful inter-district meetings in Makoni and Buhera districts, which drew large crowds.
In Rusape, the league staged a powerful display of unity, welcoming Cde Mabika, its newly elected leader, on Sunday.
Cde Mabika outlined her vision for revitalising the Women’s League, emphasising the importance of grassroots mobilisation and amplifying the party’s achievements.
Cde Mabika urged members to transition from the election mode to focus on development and expanding the party’s support base.
“We must remain loyal to our President, Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa, and united in our efforts to mobilise more support for the party and the President. Our strength as women lies in our numbers and discipline. As ZANU PF members, unity is paramount,” said Cde Mabika, while encouraging members to promote the party’s achievements, highlighting President Mnangagwa’s development initiatives, such as road construction, airport upgrades, and Pfumvudza programme.
Cde Mabika challenged women to sharpen their mobilisation machinery, embracing unity, empowerment, and President Mnangagwa’s vision.
She urged women to work hard and strive for economic independence, emphasising that this aligns with the President’s goal of creating an upper-middle-income society by 2030.
Cde Mabika also highlighted importance of staying true to the party’s principles and policies, rather than being swayed by individual agendas.
She encouraged women to take advantage of the opportunities offered by Government and ZANU PF to improve their lives and communities, while praising the Second Republic for its efforts to address the issues faced by women in the country.
She implored women to work together and stay focused on the goals of the party, emphasising the power of unity and cooperation.
“Let us work together to push the first resolution that President Mnangagwa remains our leader until 2030. Makoni has set the pace in terms of attendance. Let us mobilise more people and preach the good works by President Mnangagwa and ZANU PF. We need to market our party and the President. We should not divide people. The focus should be to grow the party support base, and that can be achieved if we are united,” said Cde Mabika.
In a show of unity, Cde Mercy Sacco, the league’s vice chairperson, who contested and lost to Cde Mabika for the top position, rallied behind the new leader.
“We stand united behind Cde Mabika. We must continue mobilising and spreading the spirit of love and unity,” she said.
Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza encouraged women to seize various opportunities to empower themselves.
“My office is open to all women. I urge you to take advantage of irrigation projects like Romesly and Muchekeramwa, as well as large-scale irrigation schemes being established in Manicaland,” said Minister Mugadza, while highlighting the Sanganai/Hlanganani/Kumbanayi World Tourism Expo in September as an opportunity for women to generate income.
“The President wants women to lead big projects, and I encourage you to take advantage of these initiatives,” he said.
ZANU PF Central Committee member, Dr Jenfan Muswere, who is also Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, demonstrated his commitment to community welfare by distributing food hampers to all women in attendance.
