THE Zanu-PF Women’s League has endorsed the election of Cde Dorothy Mabika as the substantive chairperson of the Women’s League in Manicaland Province.
Cde Mabika was elected by the Zanu-PF Manicaland Women’s League executive on 6 April.
She replaced Cde Happiness Nyakuedzwa, who was suspended last year by the party from holding any position for two years.
Speaking on the sidelines of an event to hand over a solar-powered incubator to Matabeleland South Province yesterday, Zanu PF Women’s League Political Commissar, Cde Maybe Mbowa dismissed reports that Cde Mabika is not the new chairperson but instead Cde Mercy Sacco is the acting chairperson of the Women’s League in the province.
Cde Mbowa said as far as they are concerned, Cde Mabika remained as the substantive Manicaland Women’s League chairperson as elected during the province’s elections.
“As the Women’s League, we are done, our chairperson for Manicaland Province is Cde Dorothy Mabika. We didn’t receive any changes and we never received any communication because party communication should be in black and white.
“If there is no communication to Women’s League from the National Chairperson of the party, the Secretary-General or the National Political Commissar of the party, then our resolution regarding the outcome of the elections stands,” she said.
Cde Mbowa said as a party they would not be divided by elections and they followed all the party processes in conducting the elections that saw Cde Mabika being voted to lead the Women’s League in Manicaland.
“I, as the Women’s League National Political Commissar, I still remain resolute on our election result for Cde Dorothy Mabika. Yes, people can say whatever they want because where there are elections, many things happen, but as Zanu-PF, we will never be divided by elections, we soldier on,” she said.
Cde Mabika, a seasoned cadre, has previously served as Zanu-PF Manicaland deputy chairperson.
On the day of her election, she expressed gratitude and humility. As she takes on her new role, Cde Mabika seeks to enhance the welfare of women in Manicaland through various empowerment projects, demonstrating her dedication to creating positive change and improving the lives of those around her.
Currently, Cde Mabika is one of the three provincial chair ladies chosen for the committee that monitors women empowerment projects across the country.
The committee consists of the Matabeleland South Provincial chair, Cde Sindisiwe Nleya and Harare chair Cde Barbra Mwale.
