ZBC to officially launch Channel 2

In an interview yesterday, Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation’s public relations manager Sivukile Simango said all was set for the launch.

Residents of Bulawayo have over the past four weeks been receiving ZBCtv Channel 2 signal as the local broadcaster did a trial run to see how far the signal could reach.

The signal, which is being transmitted from Montrose Studios in the city, reaches an 80km radius from Bulawayo.

Trial runs of the signal have gone without any glitches and residents of Bulawayo have welcomed the move of having a second local channel.

Simango said the launch would have road shows that would go into high density suburbs to raise awareness about Channel 2.

He said the launch was going to be a historic occasion and people should look forward to more things from ZBCtv.

“We shall officially launch Channel 2 in Bulawayo as we have had no problems with the signal. The road show will go into the high density suburbs so as to raise awareness about Channel 2. It will end in the city centre at OK in the afternoon.”

He said the programme would be out by tomorrow and senior officials from the broadcaster would be expected to attend.

“We shall have the programme out by Thursday, but all I can tell you is that senior officials from the broadcaster will attend the launch in the City of Kings,” said Simango.

Production houses in the city have been given the opportunity to submit their works to ZBCtv so as to increase local content.
