ZC rationalisation slashes franchises to 4

Zimbabwe Cricket has carried out a rationalisation exercise which has seen the number of franchises reduced from five to four – Mashonaland Eagles, Matabeleland Tuskers, MidWest Rhinos and Mountaineers. This has led to a review of the franchise positions with, among other changes, the post of franchise chief executive falling away.

Franchises will now be headed by administrators, who have been appointed as follows – Terry Nyakurimwa (Mashonaland Eagles); Stanley Staddon (Matabeleland Tuskers); Kenyon Ziehl (MidWest Rhinos) and Givemore Makoni (Mountaineers).

The franchise of Southern Rocks, which was based in Masvingo, has since been abolished.
As part of the rationalisation, the franchises will now report directly to the ZC head office.

With regards to the national team technical staff, ZC is revising earlier proposals by its cricket committee on an appropriate structure. – Zimbabwe Cricket/Sports Reporter.
