THE Manicaland leg of the 2025 edition of the Commander Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) Fun Shoot event – dubbed CDF Executive Interactive Initiative – rolls to life tomorrow (Saturday) at Gimboki Range in Mutare, amid expectations of a carnival family day out experience.
The event starts at 9am, and runs until late.
The fun shoot, which is hosted in all provinces across the country, is an annual event meant to raise funds for the Commander ZDF Golf Day, that is also meant to raise funds for the army’s charity initiatives.
Among some of the initiatives the ZDF finances through annual fund raising events are school fees and upkeep of deceased military personnel’s children as well as rehabilitation of the injured at Tsanga Lodge in Nyanga.
Some of the funds are directed towards the army’s infrastructure developmental initiatives across the country.
The CDF Executive Interactive Initiative Manicaland chapter organising secretary, Tendai Chitowa, confirmed that the event is on Saturday.
Chitowa urged the people of Manicaland to throng the Gimboki Range to enjoy the day as families as well as contribute to the humanitarian cause.
“The 2025 edition of the Commander Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) Fun Shoot event – dubbed CDF Executive Interactive Initiative is back. We will be having this event at Gimboki Range on Saturday (tomorrow).
“This is an initiative meant to fund raise for the rehabilitation of injured soldiers, housed at Tsanga Lodge as well as finance the upkeep and school fees for departed soldiers’ children. The same funds also assist in different infrastructure development that the army carries out throughout the country.
“It is also important to note that funds raised through the fun shoot also go towards the Commanders’ National Golf Day, an event also meant to raise funds for the initiatives listed above.
“It is against this background that we really want to urge the people of Manicaland to come out in their numbers and interact with senior military personnel as well as enjoy the fun shoot experience. It is an ideal family day out where everyone is free to attend,” said Chitowa.
Non participating attendees are expected to pay US$1 for children and US$2 for adults.
For US$20, one can fire 10 rounds and get lunch, while other participants may choose to pay US$5 to fire five rounds.
Diverse entertainment activities that include quad bikes, jumping castles will also be on site with renowned disc jockeys providing musical entertainment.
Food and beverages will also be on offer.
The national gold day will be attended by Commander
Defence Forces, General Valerio Sibanda on October 11.
