Zenani Mandela murder charge dropped

killed has been dropped, according to a report yesterday. National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Mthunzi Mhaga told The Star newspaper that the State had decided to revert to the initial charge of culpable homicide against Sizwe Mankazana.

“It was a prosecutorial strategy based on reassessment of the evidential material contained in the police docket,” said Mhaga.

Mankazana (23) is the son of Zwelakhe Mankazana, the partner of Mandela’s daughter Zenani Mandela-Dlamini. Mankazana junior was driving Zenani home from the Soccer World Cup concert at Orlando Stadium on June 11 last year when she was killed in a car accident.
Mankazana will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on October 24. – Sapa.
