ZERA slashes LPG prices

The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) on Tuesday advised liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) suppliers to slash prices following the removal of Valued Added Tax

(VAT) on the commodity with effect from January 01 this year.

In a statement, ZERA urged operators to display the new prices at all selling points.

“Stakeholders are advised that the LPG prices for December 2024 were calculated in accordance with the Petroleum (Liquid Petroleum Gas

Pricing) Regulations, 2021 (Statutory Instrument 90).

However, following the removal of Value Added Tax (VAT), the prices have been reduced, effective 1 January 2025,” said the statement.

The new prices have been pegged at US$1.61 or ZWG41.61.

All operators, ZERA said, were therefore advised to display the new prices at their retail outlets at a prominent place in clearly legible letters.

“Please note that it is permissible to sell LPG at prices below the prescribed prices depending on one’s trading advantages. Traders are advised that the petroleum price releases by ZERA can be verified on official ZERA website, Facebook or Twitter handle,” said the statement.
