ZETDC ……………………………………… (4) 6
CBZ ………………………………………….. (1) 3
ZETDC overcame CBZ in the Bulawayo Corporate Social Soccer League nine-goal thriller played at Highlanders Sports Club yesterday.
The match was devoid of any action in the opening stages until the 14th minute when Dalubuhle Moyo broke the deadlock after a great teamwork from ZETDC. Ten minutes later, the leaders were at it again after lack of communication between CBZ defender Sitheni Moyo and goalkeeper Timothy Mawere handed Ignitious Sibanda an opportunity to score for a 2 nil lead in favor of ZETDC.
CBZ slowly adapted to the game missing two chances in a short space of time, however, they pulled one back courtesy of striker Darlington Dube after a brilliant individual effort. However, there was a moment of controversy as ZETDC players protested against the goal.
Dalubuhle and Coleus Mazambara had a goal apiece in three minutes of play as they handed their team the third and fourth goal respectively to go to the interval leading 4-1.
In the second half, CBZ pushed hard to bounce back into the game and they were rewarded in the 60th minute when Muziwokukhanya Dube capitalised on a poor defence to pull one back for his team.
Five minutes later, CBZ made it three goals after Leonard Murewa went unmarked giving his team a glimmer of hope.
However, ZETDC’s Marshal Nhliziyo scored from a penalty spot in the 85th minute, completed his brace in the dying moments of the match to secure three points for his team.
