After a fruitful 2014 that saw him scooping various accolades for his album “Zvangu Zvaita”, Leonard Zhakata tomorrow celebrates his achievements with a show at The Palace Nightclub in Glen Norah B.
The Palace, formerly known as Hwenjez Village, will honour the musician with the celebratory show that is expected to bring together many of his fans.
Zhakata is basking in the glory of a successful year after topping the Coca-Cola Radio Zimbabwe Top 50 charts, grabbing the first, second and seventh positions.
His song “Dhonza Makomborero” was on number one while “Dollar Boy” came second and “Chapter Yerudo” was on number seven.
The major success came on the heels of yet another big achievement when the song “Dhonza Makomborero” won the Song of the Year award at Zimbabwe Music Awards in October last year.
Zhakata’s manager Isaiah Mutambisi said they are ready to celebrate with their fans and encouraged people to come to the party.
“We are very happy for these achievements. It was such a bright year and we thank God for blessing us in such a big way. Having three songs in the top 10 of such a programme is such a huge achievement and having the top two spots is an enormous success,” he said.
“We want to thank our fans for their support. They voted for us and we won. It is their support that has taken us this far. Come and let us celebrate together as we that God for what he has done and look forward to another bright year ahead.”
The Palace director Simba Chiweshe said they are happy to host Zhakata after such an achievement.
“He deserves honour and the achievement deserves celebration. We are happy for the success of our artists because it is also our bsuccess. These are people who bring pleasure to our venues and when they win, we also win,” he said.
“This is going to be a big day and we want people to put their January worries aside and support this celebratory cause.”
The Palace has hosted various musicians that include Alick Macheso, Suluman Chimbetu, Jah Prayzah and Peter Moyo among others.
