ZHAKATA DESCENDS ON KADOMA

ZORA music superstar, Karikoga Leonard Zhakata, has chosen Kadoma to launch his latest album, ‘Rasvika Jinda’, tomorrow.

The show will be held at The Star Bar.

Fans in Kadoma have been appealing to him to come and entertain them in a live show.

According to show promoter, Baba Chamu, this is not just an ordinary show but a special occasion for the Mugove hitmaker.

‘Jinda Rasvika’ will be the latest addition to a long list of albums that he has rolled out in his illustrious musical career.

That is sure to make the show one to reminisce as it will come loaded with a new product, a Christmas present for fans and music lovers.

His lengthy and successful career was recently recognised and celebrated by business Wicknell Chivayo.

He was handed a brand new Toyota Fortuner.

Thirty years ago, Leonard Karikoga Zhakata released his smash hit song “Mugove,” which was off his super album “Maruva Enyika.”

This year marks 30 years since Zhakata released his breakthrough album ‘Maruva Enyika’ in 1994.

The smash hit from that album, Mugove, went on to finish the year as the ‘Song of the Year’ on the Radio Zimbabwe To 20 hits list.

It pushed classic songs like Leonard Dembo’s ‘Nzungu Ndamenya’, which finished in second place, Simon Chimbetu’s ‘Pachipamwe,’ which finished fourth and John Chibadura’s ‘Rairai Vana,’ which finished fifth, into the shade in the Top Five.

It was such a golden year for Zhakata that the third best song, ‘Mwenza,’ was also his production.

But it was Mugove, one of those songs which come once in a generation, which really catapulted him into a superstar.

He was just 26 back then and he became the youngest Zimbabwean musician to sell more than 100,000 copies of an album.

The last time he was in Kadoma, Zhakata performed before a full house as he was celebrating his birthday.
