THE Zifa Normalisation Committee has secured a US$80 000 kit deal with the biggest local gold buyer, Betterbrands Gold, for the Warriors in their 2025 Afcon qualifying campaign that gets underway next week.
Social media went haywire during the recent Cosafa tournament when the Warriors donned gold colours that were not previously associated with the national team. The Warriors have traditionally been associated with green, yellow and white kits.
Betterbrands Gold will provide comprehensive support covering top of the range, training, travel, leisure, and matchday apparel for the Warriors while replicas will also be provided but at a date to be announced.
Apart from running flamboyant Northern Region Soccer League title chasers, Scottland, the Betterbrands group, under businessman Pedzai “Scott” Sakupwanya, is already supporting other clubs like Premiership heavyweights, Highlanders and Yadah as part of their dedication to uplifting local sports.
Tonde Sakupwanya, CEO of Betterbrands Gold, expressed his excitement about the partnership with Zifa as it fits into their vision of uniting the people of Zimbabwe through sport.
“We are thrilled to support the senior men’s national team as they embark on this crucial journey towards AFCON qualification. At Betterbrands Gold, we believe in the power of sports to unite and inspire, and we are proud to play a part in the Warriors’ success. Our sponsorship is a testament to our commitment to the growth and development of Zimbabwean football.”
Zifa chief executive, Yvonne Manwa welcomed the sponsorship, highlighting its importance in ensuring the team’s readiness for the challenging road ahead.
“This partnership with Betterbrands Gold is a significant boost for our national team. The support provided through this sponsorship will ensure that our players are well-equipped and prepared for every aspect of their campaign, from training to matchday.
“We are grateful to Betterbrands Gold for their unwavering support and belief in our national team.”
