THE Zimbabwe Football Association has postponed its annual general meeting (AGM) which was scheduled for January 28.
In its notice of the postponement Zifa did not state reasons behind the decision.
“The Zimbabwe Football Association would like to inform all ZIFA Members that the Annual General Meeting which was scheduled for 28 January 2023 has been postponed to a later date which will be advised in due course. Any inconveniences caused are sincerely regretted. Please Dear ZIFA Members accept our warmest regard,” read the notice.
The AGM was amongst other issues set to give legal authority to decisions the executive committee has taken in between congresses.
Recommendations from the Zifa Restructuring Committee (ZRC) and the forensic audit were meant to be tabled the Zifa board for discussion and adoption at the AGM.
The Zifa Restructuring Committee, in a report it presented to the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC), recommended the creation of the national first-tier league.
It is envisaged that four teams each from Northern, Central, Eastern and Southern regions would join four teams that were relegated from the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League last year – Harare City, Bulawayo City, Tenax and WhaWha – to form the National Division League.
However, the other regional leagues will continue as Division One, which will effectively be a third-tier league. – @innocentskizoe.
