THE long-awaited ZIFA Restructuring Committee report which was set to be released yesterday, was postponed to“ a later date.

The report is expected to change the country’s football façade as it i s expected to address issues that have affected football management and administration for a long time.

The report was prepared by a nine-member committee established by the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC).

The committee’s report is expected to recommend solutions to pave the way for a new dawn in the country’s football landscape.

SRC spokesperson, Elta Nengomasha, said the postponement was to allow ZIFA and its members adequate time to digest the Restructuring Committee’s recommendations.

“Please be advised that the SRC press conference that had been scheduled for today 19 January 2023 at the VIP Lounge – ZNSS has been postponed to a later date.

“The reason for the postponement is to allow ZIFA and its members to have adequate time to receive and digest the recommendations,” she said.

Football administration has been abysmal and the calibre of individuals in charge of the local game has been identified as one of the major reasons for a decline in the standards of the game.

The report was handed to ZIFA, which is expected to scrutinise it with its members.

If the report is adopted by the national association and the game’s stakeholders, it will pave a roadmap that will restore Zimbabwe’s football to competitive levels of the past when the country competed shoulder to shoulder with continental giants like Egypt, Cameroon and Senegal.
