ZIFA to probe a?lovea coach

Fungai Muderere
HIGHLANDERS Royals coach Evans Netha who was caught in a WhatsApp love proposal storm with a player is on Zifaas investigations radar.

In a long WhatsApp chat dated 27 March 2017 that was leaked to B-Metro, Netha (32) who went on to sensationally claim thatA most female footballers were lesbians, cornered the female player with a number of questions which suggest that he was proposing love to her.

In one of the messages, he asks the girl who a?she sleeps witha? and if she would be a?comfortablea? with getting married to him.

When B-Metro asked him about the issue he said there was no way he could propose love to female footballers because most of them were allegedly lesbians.

His response did not sit well with Zifa.

a?Zifa takes pride in emancipation of women. Our first objective is to empower the girl child. We take great exception to any attempt to abuse or infringe the rights of the girl child. Consequently, the association will fully investigate this case,a? said Zifaas spokesman Xolisani Gwesela.

Since the issue came to light, sources close to the female footballer told B-Metro that she was contemplating leaving Highlanders Royals because of victimisation.

However, Highlanders life member and Zifa honorary member Cecilia Malunga Mudzana has gone on to defend the coachas actions.

a?You are the one who wrote that story? So you were busy asking questions about the coach knowing that you want to write the story. That girl is 22 years old and there is nothing wrong with the coach allegedly proposing to her . . . ,a? said Malunga after meeting this reporter at Barbourfields Stadiumas VIP tribune before the blockbuster tie that pitted Highlanders and Dynamos on Sunday 14 May.
