ZIMBABWE is gearing up for the 3rd Presidential Innovation Fair in Harare where the country’s most advanced innovations and technologies developed under the Heritage-Based Education 5.0 policy framework will be showcased.
Set to run under the theme, “Innovation for economic growth: From prototype to commercialisation”, the Fair is slated for December 11.
It is expected to exhibit cutting-edge inventions from universities, polytechnics, innovators and start-ups.
According to the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development, the Fair will celebrate Zimbabwe’s rising innovation ecosystem and highlight the commercial promise of homegrown solutions.
President Mnangagwa is expected to officially open the event and present prizes to Zimbabwe’s top innovators.
It will be open to the media and public, giving delegates an opportunity to explore exhibitions, engage in live demonstrations and witness the nation’s best scientific and technological breakthroughs.
Permanent Secretary for Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development, Professor Fanuel Tagwira, said the Fair reflects the Government’s commitment to building an innovation-driven economy in line with Vision 2030.
“The 2025 Presidential Innovation Fair is a national showcase of Zimbabwe’s brilliance. It demonstrates our determination to ensure that innovation drives economic growth, creates jobs and enhances our industrialisation agenda,” said Prof Tagwira.
He added that the transformation witnessed under Education 5.0 continues to turn institutions of higher learning into engines of production and economic development.
“Our innovators are solving real problems in health, agriculture, energy, manufacturing and the digital economy.
“The Fair provides a platform to spotlight these achievements and to demonstrate how far Zimbabwe has come in building a knowledge-driven economy.”
The ministry says the event is a celebration of homegrown creativity and a testament to the country’s ongoing shift toward research-based industrial development.
“Be informed. Be inspired. Witness the future of Zimbabwe innovation,” reads the Ministry’s official statement.
With innovators, researchers, students, business leaders and the public expected to attend in large numbers, the 2025 Presidential Innovation Fair is set to be one of the most significant national events on Zimbabwe’s calendar.
