Zim junior golfers impress in US

ZIMBABWE junior golfers finished on position eight at the Greg Norman Academy Junior Invitational Golf Tournament in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on the Southeast coast of the United States last week.

One point separated each of Zimbabwe’s three participants, who all finished impressively in the top 10.

Top junior player David Amm finished fifth in the tournament with a three-day point total of 226, with Kieran Vincent of St John’s College finishing seventh with 227 points and Falcon College’s Justin Kersten right behind him in eighth with 228 points.

The Greg Norman Junior Invitational included 36 male junior golfers from 18 different countries.

Zimbabwe were the only African country represented in the tournament, which included three rounds of 75 par golf.

Ilari Saulo of Finland won with a total score of 218, six points ahead of the fifth placed Amm.

The three member team from Zimbabwe took part in this invitational as a warm-up to their participation next weekend in the larger Orange Bowl Invitational in Florida.

The tournament, a fixture on the Global Junior Golf circuit, will improve the three Zimbabwean junior golfers rankings.
