Zim lament Tri-Series failure

Jonathan John Sports Reporter
ZIMBABWE cricket captain Elton Chigumbura believes his side’s failure to make the final of the ongoing Tri-Series was largely a result of their poor batting performance. South Africa will meet Australia in the final at Harare Sports Club tomorrow after the Proteas finished top of the table with 14 points.

Australia had 10 while Zimbabwe were bottom with four.
Yesterday, the hosts lost to the Proteas by 63 runs.

“We had a good start but with eight overs we started losing wickets. It got harder and harder and also, we left B.T. (Brendan Taylor) to fight it alone, if we had supported him who knows,” said Chigumbura.

“Starting from the South Africa series we had games that bowlers bowled well and it was just up to the batting group to support the bowling performance but
we only managed to do that against Australia.

“There are still some areas we can work on, especially our batting, so that we become a better team and be consistent.”
