THE Zimbabwe senior national soccer team, the Warriors, made an insignificant rise on the world rankings, climbing from 123 to 119.
According to the Fifa/Coca-Cola World Rankings released in Zurich, Switzerland yesterday, the Warriors are also ranked 34th in Africa.

Calisto Pasuwa’s men however, are still a far cry from the brave Dream Team squad that stormed into the world’s top 50 at number 43 during the late Reinhard Fabisch’s era.

A combination of administrative boobs, poor team selection and the shamed Asiagate scandal have all contributed to the ruin of the once formidable national outfit.

Zimbabwe’s June 13 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier opponents Malawi are ranked 95th in the world and 26th in Africa while their Chan opponents Comoros are 190th in the world and 50th in Africa.

2014 World Cup quarter-finalists Algeria are the highest ranked African team in the world at number 21 while World Cup winners Germany are the world’s number one team.
