Zim mine more gold

ZIMBABWE collected five gold, three silver and three bronze medals yesterday as the athletes kept alive their bid to defend the SARPCCO Games title.

The five medals were collected in darts and chess.

The netball team collected silver, after losing 41-42, to Malawi.

Team Zimbabwe manager, Joselyn Muchenje, accepted defeat and congratulated the Malawians.

“We lost to a better team,” said Muchenje.

“Our ladies played well only to relax when we were leading and Malawi punished us for that in the last two minutes.

“It’s a game, you win some and lose others, so, we say congratulations to Malawi,” she said.

Malawi’s foreign-based players – Joice Mvula and Takondwa Lwazi – led their team to gold in the tightly-contested match.

The Zimbabwe women’s volleyball team beat Namibia 3-0 and the men’s football team drew 0-0 against Mozambique.
